Finding the volume of a sphere

Question
How to find the volume of a sphere when the diameter is known?. For example: The diameter is given as 5 inches and take π = 22/7.
Answer
STEP 1:
The basic formula used to calculate the volume of a sphere is:

volume of a sphere formula

The variables V and r in the formula represent the volume and radius of the sphere, respectively.

STEP 2:
The formula can be used only if the radius of the sphere is known. We are given the measure of the diameter of the sphere as a means to find its radius. Since the diameter is 5 inches, divide it by 2 to get the radius.

converting diameter to radius

STEP 3:
We will now substitute all the known values in the formula for volume. Take the value of π to be 22/7.

using the volume of a sphere formula

We have thus calculated the volume of the sphere using the diameter as about 65.5 cubic inches.
